Spongee is a long standing engineering tradition and the premiere engineering sporting event run each year. The sport is simple: floor hockey, on ice. The teams are varied: competitors from all faculties. The prize is a place on the prestigious UMES Spongee Cup.

Tournaments are held in November and Februrary each year and draw sellout crowds. Players can expect intense competition and spirited celebrations. The night begins with a round robin tournament with the top ranked teams advancing to the playoffs. When the final buzzer sounds, only one team will remain and their name shall forever be engraved on the UMES Spongee Cup. Who will earn this honor next?
